Neither the humor, the plot, or the characters shine enough to elevate this to 'good movie' status. It's just okay, with popular actors and glossy production. I didn't know anything about this film aside from having Aoi Yu in it and a friend of mine happens to recommend it. But as I was going through it, I notice coming across similar faces - two of those are in the J-drama I just finished over the weekend that is "Chugakusei Nikki" (yup, the one with Arimura Kasumi) as well as others. Then I had a realization that these actors previously starred in "Tokyo Family", the remake of Ozu Yasujiro-san's classic "Tokyo Story" (which they even referenced in this film); and now they're coming together again, under the same director, to play a family again yet with a different, much lighter story. I mean, I never personally have… This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth. I finally finished this movie!! The ending made me cry 😭 still dont get why the grandpa jokes about getting kicked out of the house in the first place though.

The scene then shifts to Holly DeCarlo, a depressed and lonely young girl and aspiring magician with only one friend, a tone-deaf, somewhat geeky character named Charles who has a knack for climatology. While practicing a magic act with Charles, the wind blows Holly's hat off her head, out the window, and onto a snowman who comes to life as Frosty, thus revealing that Holly's hat was "that old silk hat" featured in the original song and previous adaptations.
